Five men remanded to prison over murder of money changer and daughter

Acting on the advice of the Police Legal Advisor, five men were today charged and remanded to prison for the murder of Better Hope money changer Aaron Latchman and his daughter, Arianna.

The two were gunned down in front of their home on July 4.

Appearing in Court today to face the murder charge were 46-year-old Seon Thomas, 37-year-old Lloyd Sadoloo, 34-year-old, Paul Chan, 44-year-old, Troy Abrams and 26-year-old Mark Refino.

The five were not required to enter a plea to the indictable murder charges.

During the appearance at the Sparendaam Magistrates’ Court, three of the five accused kept their faces covered as they made their way in and out of the Courtroom.

The Magistrate remanded them all to jail until August 12th when the matter will continue.

Family members of the murdered father and daughter were also at the Courthouse observing the hearing and the appearance by the alleged killers.

Investigators arrested the five during a widescale operation last week in a number of villages in Georgetown and along the East Coast.

It was reported that some of the men had admitted to being involved in the double murder but claimed that they had been hired to carry out the hit.

The money changer and his daughter were laid to rest last week.
