Fly Jamaica set to take off on September 26

After months of preparations, Fly Jamaica has announced that it is set and ready for its long awaited launch in the Guyana market. The airline will begin its service between Georgetown and New York and Georgetown and Toronto from September 26, 2013.

The carrier will initially offer two flights per week between Georgetown and New York. The north bound flights will stop in Jamaica while the one of the flights heading back to Guyana will be non stop, with the other one making a stop in Jamaica.

A number of local travel agents are expected to take on bookings for the airline. Fly Jamaica has been preparing for months for the introduction of its Guyana service. Local staff have been hired and have been undergoing training.

Guyanese have also been hired for flight attendant jobs and they are expected to begin training soon. Fly Jamaica is co owned by Guyanese pilot and businessman Captain Ronald Reece.

The airline has been granted National Flag carrier status by the Government of Guyana.
