The two foreign pilots who were recently charged and remanded to jail for illegally entering Guyana, were marched before the Courts again today to face additional charges.

In Court today, the two men, David Caicedo Villa, and Gustavo Adolfo Riascos Gomez were charged with interfering with an aircraft, operating a civilian aircraft without a certificate and insurance, and operating an aircraft in a reckless manner. They also faced a charge of operating an aircraft without a license.

The two men pleaded guilty to all of the new charges and were sentenced to two years in jail on the conviction of operating an aircraft without a certificate.

They were fined a total of $11 million on the other charges. Failure to pay the money could see them facing an additional three years in jail.

The two were arrested on a Mahdia airstrip on the 4th of November after landing their small unregistered aircraft in the area.  One of the men is a Venezuelan national, while the other is Colombian.

After their arrest, they told investigators that they got lost during their search for gold.
