No foul play found in death of Guyanese man found in St. Lucia hotel

Police investigators  in St. Lucia are hoping that they will get all the answers they are seeking when a post mortem examination is done on the body of a 61-year-old Guyanese man who was found dead in a hotel room at Gros Islet on the island on Tuesday.

According to a statement from St Lucian Police, the dead man has been identified as Richard Gordon  Proffitt who was vacationing in the island. Investigators have ruled out foul play. There were no marks of violence discovered on his body, according to reports.

Police were called to the hotel just after 5pm on Tuesday,  September 9 2014, after being informed that the man was found lifeless on a bed in the hotel room. He was last seen alive at the same hotel at 1pm on the same day.

St. Lucia Police investigators have stated that the post mortem examination will take place at a later date to determine the man’s cause of death. Investigations are ongoing.

It’s unclear who may have discovered the man’s body and whether he may have had any visitors on the same day.
