Four years in jail for woman held with cocaine pellets in stomach and vagina

The woman, Tamera Melville appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrates Court this morning and pleaded guilty to the charge of trafficking narcotics. The cocaine that the woman was trafficking had a total weight of 775 grams.

The 23-year-old woman who was held at the Eugene F. Correia Airport, Ogle with pellets of cocaine in her stomach and an additional package stashed in her vagina, appeared in Court this morning and pleaded guilty to the drug trafficking charges.

The woman, Tamera Melville appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrates Court this morning and pleaded guilty to the charge of trafficking narcotics. The cocaine that the woman was trafficking had a total weight of 775 grams.

With her guilty plea, the presiding Magistrate sentenced her to four years in jail and fined her $798,000.

Melville was an outgoing passenger at the Airport on Saturday when Police noticed her acting strangely. She was searched and a condom-filled packet of cocaine was found in her vagina.

The woman also admitted that she had swallowed more than 70 cocaine-filled pellets.

She was taken by the Police to a City Hospital where she excreted the swallowed cocaine pellets.

Although the woman has pleaded guilty to the charge, investigators are continuing their probe to track down her supplier and the mastermind of the operation.
