The Government of Guyana has settled all Court matters against Digicel outside of the Court, weeks after filing criminal and civil proceedings against the company and its Chief Executive Officer.  

Back in September, civil proceedings were filed against Digicel and its CEO over a series of breaches that were uncovered by the Telecommunications Agency.

Digicel was accused of the unlawful use of spectrum in contravention of the law. The Government moved to Court and filed both criminal and civil proceedings against the company.

However, Attorney General Anil Nandlall confirmed today that both parties have reached an agreement and out-of-Court settlement.

“The matters of controversy between the parties have been resolved and both parties have withdrawn and discontinued all litigation instituted by and against each other”, Mr. Nandlall told News Source.

The Government is tightlipped on the settlement with the Attorney General indicating that he will not be disclosing details of the agreement.

Two other telecommunications companies, GTT and E-networks had complained about Digicel’s squatting on the spectrum they were given permission to operate on.
