The European Mission in Guyana has indicated that the Government has expressed an interest in the EU sending a team to observe the March 2, 2020 elections in Guyana.

An exploratory mission from the European Union is expected in Guyana this week to begin meeting with various stakeholders on issues related to the upcoming elections.

The European Mission in Guyana has indicated that the Government has expressed an interest in the EU sending a team to observe the March 2, 2020 elections in Guyana.

The advance team which arrives this week will be here to assess the advisability, feasibility and usefulness of deploying an EU Election Observation Mission (EU EOM) to Guyana.

President David Granger has already proclaimed the 2nd March 2020 as the date of the election.

The Guyana Elections Commission is currently in the process of training persons who will likely have to work on elections day.
