GPHC widens fraud probe

The Georgetown Hospital is widening a fraud probe and has sent the Director of Financial Services and a Clerk from the Accounts Department on leave, until the outcome of the probe.

The move comes as the hospital, the Auditor General’s office and the Police investigate reports of a multi million dollar fraud at the state run medical institution.

Sources close to the Hospital have said that there is no clear figure of the exact amount of money that may have gone missing. It is believed that millions of dollars are missing.

The Nation’s provider of Health Services, hereby advises that as a result of a Board decision on Thursday October 24th, 2013 the Director of Financial Services and a Clerk from the Accounts Department have been sent off on administrative leave.  This decision took immediate effect so that the probe into the disappearance of funds from the Institution could be continued.GPHC
