On Friday, the revenue collection agency said it has noted with concern a number of allegations and issues against officers of the agency which were raised by members of the Upper Corentyne business community.

The Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) is investigating several staff members in the Upper Corentyne area following a slew of allegations that have been made by members of the business community there.

On Friday, the revenue collection agency said it has noted with concern a number of allegations and issues against officers of the agency which were raised by members of the Upper Corentyne business community.

The Authority said that those allegations are currently under investigation, the findings of which will be made available to the public.

According to reports, several business persons in the area have complained of being targeted by GRA officers.

Reports from the area are that GRA staff raided several businesses recently and demanded that renewed licenses be made available.

Some persons claimed that no explanation was given by the officers and large quantities of goods were seized.
