Granger convenes security meeting today to tackle crime problem

The Ministry of the Presidency has announced that the President will today meet with Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo, Minister of Public Security, Khemraj Ramjattan, Minister of State Joe Harmon along with the Chief of Staff of the Guyana Defense Force and the Commissioner of Police.

Granger convenes security meeting today to tackle crime problem

President David Granger will this morning meet with leading government ministers and his security team to look at ways of tackling the current crime problem in the country.

The Ministry of the Presidency has announced that the President will today meet with Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo, Minister of Public Security, Khemraj Ramjattan, Minister of State Joe Harmon along with the Chief of Staff of the Guyana Defense Force and the Commissioner of Police.

The meeting is expected to formulate a national plan and response to the increase in criminal activity.

For this year alone, Guyana has already recorded over 80 murders and robberies and other gun crimes also appear to be on the increase.

The Public Security Ministry has been  looking at various ways to tackle the crime problem.
