Telecommunications giant, GTT this morning announced major upgrades to its internet delivery with the launch of its fibre service.
GTT customers who already have the Blaze internet service will see the speed of their service increased while the price will be reduced.
The company has announced that the service upgrade to GTT Fibre replaces the former Blaze service. GTT has indicated that customers will not see an increase in costs as their service improves.
All of the previous plans will now see the speed doubling with a more stable and reliable service.
The improved service comes at a cost of over $2 Billion for the company in system upgrades and will also target new areas.
Chief Executive Officer Damian Blackburn said the investment is just one of many new investments to come from GTT as it pushes for the improvement of the service it offers.
“Our new GTT Fibre service have replaced Blaze and customers have been upgraded automatically to significantly higher data speeds. This sets the stage for future innovation to enable us to provide a 21st century telecommunications experience to our customers, communities, and the Country as a whole. Just as this 21st century has seen major advancements in technology, it has also brought significant social and economic opportunities and challenges. Advances in information and technology give us the power to overcome many of those challenges. What truly excites me is the national advancement opportunities that the power of GTT Fibre now presents for the Guyanese people”, Blackburn said.
Chief Operations Officer for GTT’s Home and Fixed Service, Eshwar Thakurdin said the GTT Fibre service will be the best suited for home and business customers. He said the company took its time at developing the new service and with a good back-up system in place, GTT customers will be happy with the new service and the new plans.
“All of our exiting Blaze customers have already been upgraded to GTT Fibre for free. Our new plans of Fibre50, Fibre100, and Fibre150 provide more than double the speed of the previous Blaze plans, AND at a lower cost. So, those on the Ignite (10Mbps), Flaming (20 Mbps) and Inferno (50 Mbps) plans have been moved to the Fibre50, Fibre100 and Fibre150 plans priced at $8,999, $10,999, and $12,999 respectively”, the Chief Operations Officer said.
The company has been in talks with the government and developers for the rollout of its service in many of the unserved and new communities.
Company officials have indicated that they are aware of the hiccups that dogged its internet delivery service over the past year, but they promise that with the new Fibre service, customers will be happy to return to GTT and stay with GTT.
The company said the introduction of GTT Fibre is one way in which the company is working to deliver on its promise to reliably connect its customers with the best available technology on fibre optics.
