GT&T’s CEO resigns to explore other “non-corporate interests”

The Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GT&T) on Wednesday announced that its Chief Executive Officer, RK Sharma has tendered his resignation to explore non-corporate interests.

Mr. Sharma was appointed CEO of the telephone company just over 2 years ago and earlier this year he had appeared set to continue in the position for a long time.

News Source understands that Mr. Sharma may have gotten offers for positions outside of the corporate world and he may have given those offers good consideration before deciding to leave his full time job at GT&T.

The resignation will take effect from June 18, 2015. In the interim, the company’s Finance Director, Justin Nedd will act as the Chief Executive Officer.

There are reports that GT&T is looking outside of Guyana for its new Chief Executive Officer.
