Guyana likely to experience thunderstorms as Tropical Storm moves across Atlantic

Weather forecasters are keeping their eyes on a tropical storm that is currently moving across the Caribbean region in the Atlantic Ocean.

The local Hydromet Office in a weather alert this afternoon said while the storm is not expected to directly impact Guyana, because of its current pattern and trajectory, northern Guyana could be impacted by heavy showers in the coming hours.

Forecasters say the extent of the thundershowers and the location (s) of impact are not exactly known at this time, but once there is a determination, the Hydromet Office will issue alerts with possible weather warnings.

The Hydromet office said it will continue to closely monitor the situation. The National Hurricane Center in the United States is also monitoring Tropical Storm Gonzalo.
