The US has now donated more than 300,000 vaccines to Guyana to aid in the COVID-19 fight. In a statement, the US Embassy also indicated that the US administration has also donated more than US$790,000 to Guyana in COVID-19 related assistance.

The assistance came from the US Agency for International Development, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Department of Defence.

The embassy also stated that the United States has contributed US$4 billion to the COVAX vaccination initiative, representing the largest commitment globally from a single country.

This contribution, the embassy noted, builds on decades of U.S. investments in global health and global health organizations and demonstrates the US Government’s commitment to build back better by strengthening multilateral cooperation on global health.

The embassy is encouraging Guyanese to take steps to prevent the further spread of the pandemic by getting vaccinated and following the health protocols.
