Drug Enforcement Officers in Guyana and the United States are probing another drug bust in New York of a Guyanese passenger. 49-year-old Guyanese, Winston Carr was busted at the JFK International Airport in New York after he arrived there on a Caribbean Airlines flight from Guyana on July 3, 2013, with cocaine concealed in the false sides of his suitcases.

According to drug enforcement officials in Guyana, the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit had some suspicion of the man as he made his way through the Cheddi Jagan Airport in Guyana, However, they were unable to locate the illegal substance. News Source understands that CANU informed the U.S Authorities about their suspicions and the man was greeted by US Drug Enforcement Agents upon his arrival in New York.

A search of the man suitcases revealed an elaborate design that made it almost difficult for the hidden cocaine to be spotted. The false sides of the suitcases were made of a special fibre glass that may have made it difficult for not just the agents, but also for the drug sniffer dogs to locate the illegal substance.

When the U.S agents ripped apart the suitcase and the false fibre glass sides, they discovered over 15 pounds of cocaine. The man was arrested and charged for drug trafficking.

On the same day that the man was busted in New York, an American woman was busted in Guyana at the Cheddi Jagan Airport with cocaine in the lase sides of her suitcases. She pleaded guilty when she was charged with the drug trafficking offence. She has been sentenced to four years in jail.

Guyanese law enforcement officers are following several tips in both cases as they try to figure out who may be the masterminds of the cocaine shipments.
