Guyanese man escapes from Antiguan prison and recaptured

A Guyanese man who escaped from Antigua’s Her Majesty’s Prison on Sunday is now back  in police custody in the island. According to the Antigua Chronicle,  the escapee, Gordon Tedroy Sheppard of Guyana was captured in an abandoned house in the Radio Range area  around 2pm on Tuesday.

“The police, acting on a tip-off met the escaped prisoner hiding out inside the house; before he was recaptured and taken into custody”, the Antigua Chronicle reported.

The news report further stated that the Commissioner of Police and the Prison authorities have expressed gratitude to the general public and the media for their assistance in the recapture of the escapee.

The 28-year-old man was in the prison facility on remand for fraud and other charges for various crimes committed in the island.
