Guyanese man found dead in Antigua, suicide suspected

(Antiguachronicle.net) The villa man who was found dead in his home with a single gunshot wound to his head on Monday, is believed to have taken his own life. At least that is the position of the many villagers who heard the gunshot on Monday morning.

The 61-year-old man’s identity will not be released at this time but Antigua Chronicle can say that he is of Guyanese heritage. He was found lying in a pool of his own blood.

Police spoke swiftly about the matter in a statement, confirming that there was indeed a death by means of gunshot.

But the lawmen did not go as far as to highlight motive or classify the death as homicide or suicide. The weapon believed to have been used in the incident was said to have been recovered at the scene.

“The Police are currently investigating a shooting incident in Villa, where the body of a 61-year-oldĀ man was discovered fatally shot in his home sometime Monday morning. Details surround in the incident are still sketchy; however, as information comes to hand, the public will be informed.” That completed the police’s current stance on the matter.
