Guyanese man held for murder in Barbados

A Guyanese national is in the custody of the Royal Barbados Police Force being questioned about the stabbing death of a Barbadian man. the incident took place late on Tuesday night in the island. The dead man has been identified as 26-year-old Tito Gill of Christ Church, Barbados.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the Royal Barbados Police Force, Inspector David Welch, the Guyanese national is the only suspect in custody in connection with the murder.

Inspector Welch told News Source that based on the evidence gathered so far in the case, two Guyanese nationals were involved in an altercation in the Black Rock community on the outskirts of Bridgetown late on Tuesday night.

He said it is not clear how the Barbadian man became involved in the fracas, but the man was stabbed twice to his body. He received injuries to his abdomen and his upper body. “The man did not die on the spot, but he succumbed to his injuries later at the hospital”, Inspector Welch said.

The Barbadian Police Official also told News Source that he is not aware that Police investigators in the island are actively trying to pursue the other Guyanese man who was involved in the fight.

The name of the suspect has not been released because of Barbadian laws. His name would only be released if charges are brought against him.
