Handyman and Mechanic remanded over break and entry and theft from Chicka D

At the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court today, a handyman and a mechanic found themselves before Magistrate Judy Latchman facing break and enter and larceny charges.

The two men, 47-year-old Seon Clarke and 41-year-old, Gary Grant, are accused of stealing over $25 million in items from the Chicka D Restaurant on Vlissengen Road, which recently went out of business.

The charges stated that between September 20, 2017 and October 5, 2017, the two men broken into the building owned by businessman, Deonarine Singh, and carted off an ice maker and several other items, totaling over $25 million.

The Court heard that the Police received information about the break and entry at the building and when investigators arrived on the scene, the two men were caught red handed.

One of them punched an investigator to the face in an attempt to prevent arrest, and they bolted from the scene, but were cornered by public-spirited citizens.

Both men have been remanded to prison until October 30, 2017 when the case will be called again.
