State Minister Joseph Harmon believes the APNU+AFC government is deserving of an ‘A’ Grade with regards to the implementation of its 21-point 100 day plan as laid out in its 2015 elections manifesto.

The government’s Chief spokesman told members of the media on Friday that based on the government’s own checklist, it is extremely comfortable with the work done and accomplishments made under the plan.

According to Harmon, Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo will deliver a full report on the government’s progress next week.

The government’s progress on the implementation of the plan was discussed at a recent weekend retreat of Cabinet, Harmon said.

The political opposition and members of civil society have already been criticizing the government for falling short on the implementation of several of its promises.

During the ongoing budget debates, the government came under fire repeatedly from the opposition members who believe that the plan’s full implementation was unrealistic from the beginning.

While the government has fulfilled some of the many promises, it is yet to reduce the Value Added Tax (VAT), set up the Public Procurement Commission (PPC) and lay and pass the Telecommunications Bill in the National Assembly. That bill is expected to be reworked and presented to the National Assembly for passage before the end of this year.
