Jagdeo bashes Granger administration as “inept and incompetent” following latest prison fire and jailbreak

Opposition Leader Bharrat Jagdeo has blasted the David Granger led government as inept and incompetent following Sunday’s fire and jail break at the Camp Street prison.

In a statement on Monday evening, the Opposition Leader said the nation has once again, witnessed “an outrageous spectacle of a bumbling, inept, incompetent Granger Government in full display.”

He said the incident was repeated not more than one year since a similar episode at the identical location “revealed for all, the lack of planning and contingency that prevailed under the Granger Government’s watch.”

Mr. Jagdeo said the government appears to be keeping its plans and policies with regard to the recommendations of the prison inquiry in secret and that must change.

He is now calling for a full disclosure of all aspects of the tragedy that took placr at the camp street jail and would also like full disclosure on the other tragedy that took place at the same jail last year.

The opposition leader also offered his sympathy to the family of the prison officer who was killed as five inmates blasted their way out of the prison on Sunday afternoon.

He said all of those who are responsible for the tragic events, particularly the politicians must be held accountable.
