Jagdeo confirms he has been served with Court documents in Pradoville 2 case

Opposition Leader and former President, Bharrat Jagdeo, has confirmed that Court Marshalls have served him with Court documents related to his seaside property and the efforts by the State Asset Recovery Agency to recover the property.

News Source understands that he was served by Marshalls of the High Court last Thursday at the Office of the Opposition Leader.

Mr. Jagdeo told reporters that he did not even look at the documents, but rather sent them to his Attorney to respond.

Just before he left office as President, Mr. Jagdeo built a sprawling property on the seaside land that had reportedly been sold at a value far less than the market price. Other former Government officials also purchased land in the area and also built their homes.

While some of them have since paid the difference in the cost for the land and have settled their cases with SARA, Jagdeo has refused.

During a probe of the sale of the state lands, he invoked Presidential immunity and refused to answer questions by the Special Organised Crime Unit.

Today he said he is not even wasting time on the issue since he sees it as a political one. He has also refused to say what is the value of his property.

When pressed by reporters about his reason for rejecting an opportunity to settle the matter, a visibly inpatient Jagdeo said “that’s a stupid question”, as he told the reporter asking the question that he had no time to deal with “silly questions”.

He said he is more focused on the current political situation in the country and not on anything else.
