Jennifer Westford still on PPP’s Parliamentary List

The People’s Progressive Party has denied reports that former Minister of Public Service, Jennifer Westford will no longer be a Member of Parliament for the party.

Westford is currently before the courts facing attempted larceny charges in connection with the Public Service vehicle transfer scam. She is also being investigated as part of another probe into over $350 Million that cannot be found at her former Ministry.

At a press conference this morning (August 10), PPP General Secretary, Clement Rohee said Ms. Westford is still listed as part of the PPP’s team to take up its seats in the National Assembly.

He reminded that a person is “innocent until proven guilty” and because of the party’s belief in the presumption of innocence, no move has been made as yet to remove her from the list.

Pressed about public perception when it comes to Westford’s presence among the Party’s Members in the National Assembly, Rohee admitted that it is an issue that would need to be looked at and further examined.

He did not want to confirm whether the PPP will be in Parliament for today’s reading of the National Budget.

Two weeks ago, party executive member, Dr. Roger Luncheon announced that the PPP will be in parliament in time for the budget. However, he was not clear on whether that meant the budget presentation or in time for the debate on the budget.
