Johnny Welshman taken by Police to Hospital after threatening suicide

Police investigators were early on Wednesday morning called to an Alberttown apartment building after 23-year-old Johnny Welshman claimed that he  had ingested bleach and was threatening to consume poison. Welshman is the young man who has accused the Speaker of the National Assembly of sexually assaulting him when he was 10 years old.

The Speaker has denied the accusations and has said he believes the claims by the young man are politically motivated. He has filed a lawsuit against Welshman and the Chief Justice has gagged the young man from making further libelous statements against the Speaker.

On Wednesday, Welshman was questioned by the Police and taken to the Georgetown Hospital as an early morning heavy downpour moved through the Alberttown community.

Persons who live in the same apartment building said the police were called just before 6 o’ clock to investigate what may have going on in the young man’s room after persons reportedly heard strange sounds coming from his room. He reportedly also made a threat to commit suicide on his Facebook page.

The Police reportedly found several different pills and a poisonous liquid near to Welshman’s bed, but the young man appeared coherent and alert when questioned by officers. The young man reportedly told the investigating officers that he drank  bleach and wanted to commit suicide.

Welshman also told investigators  that he was encouraged to attempt suicide as a way of “getting back at the Speaker and keeping attention on the matter”.
