Justice For All party returns to the APNU

The Justice for All Party (JFAP) has once again joined forces with the opposition coalition, A Partnership for National Unity (APNU), but this time, the party says it has no demands or expectations of the partnership outside of unseating the incumbent People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) at the May 11 elections.

Jaipaul Sharma who once represented JFAP in the National Assembly under the APNU told reporters on Friday that he has made no demands for a position in executive office, should the APNU win the upcoming elections.

Sharma had resigned from the National Assembly over remarks made by Minister of Education Priya Manickchand in reference to his father CN Sharma facing statutory rape charges and her refusal to offer an apology.

When asked whether he was prepared to deal with the recurrence of such attacks, particularly during this elections season, Sharma warned that if the PPP/C were to launch attacks on those grounds he is prepared to fire back.

“We are going to put our stake in the APNU once again and give the people an opportunity to make the right decision,” Sharma said.

He also confirmed that David Granger will lead the APNU into the elections as the Presidential Candidate, explaining that he only returned when this was confirmed to him.

“I have no request of the APNU to place me anywhere, our main objective is to remove this dictatorial regime but there is no pressure,” Sharma reiterated even as he expressed the hope that the JFAP relation with the APNU will endure beyond the 2015 elections.

He said he began campaigning the day he resigned from politics and remained active among the traditional support locations. The JEAP has a strong grounding among the poor and down trodden and says it does not intend to lose its identity in that regard.

The Party notes its commitment to the achievement of national unity in Guyana and will work to make that a reality under an APNU government.
