In the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court today, 25-year-old Revelana Smith was charged and remanded to jail on an attempted murder charge.

It is alleged that on the 26th March at Pike Street Kitty, the accused attacked the new girlfriend of her ex-lover.

She reportedly became aware that the new girlfriend, Ranetta Bharrat, who is also a Police Officer, was at the man’s house and she decided to confront the woman.

The Court was told that the accused armed herself with a cutlass and attacked the woman.

The victim was badly hurt and was left nursing several chop wounds to her head and hands. She even lost a finger in the attack.

A report was made after the victim was rushed to the hospital and the accused was later arrested and charged.

Bail was denied and the matter will continue later this month.
