Laminated vaccine cards acceptable once all information is clear -Health Minister

The Minister of Health gave the green light today for the scanning and lamination of the vaccination booklets.

He said the copy of the booklet would be acceptable once the information is clear and matches the identity of the person carrying the card.

With a vaccination policy in place for access to public buildings, many citizens have started to copy and laminate their vaccination booklet to make it easier for them to carry around.

The Health Minister said there is no problem with that move.

“We understand the challenge people face with walking around with this big card. If its not laminated then it can be easily damaged. We have been flexing with it, but you must present it so that you can see the particulars of the person on one side and whats inside the card and some people have been able to do that nicely so that you can see whether the person got a first dose or second dose or so, it helps, but if its just laminating it and only part of the information is being shown, the person you are presenting it to they might have doubts. But if you can do where all the relevant information is on display, that is acceptable”, Minister Anthony said.

The Minister said persons who are still unvaccinated need to get vaccinated to protect themselves and loved ones against the virus. He said the majority of the more than 150 people hospitalised with the virus are unvaccinated persons.

This weekend, the Ministry of Health will be hosting another vaccination drive at the National Stadium providence to offer vaccines for adults and also for the children.

68% of Guyana’s adult population has already. received a first shot of one of the COVID-19 vaccines.
