LIAT to add three additional weekly flights to Guyana market

Regional carrier, LIAT has announced that effective October 30, 2014, the airline will add three additional weekly flights to its schedule between Barbados’ Grantley Adams Airport and Guyana’s Ogle International Airport.

The three additional services per week to Ogle in Guyana will be on Monday, Thursday and Saturday, bringing the total number of services to 10 weekly. The airline currently operates one flight per day between Guyana and Barbados.

The additional flights will arrive in Guyana at 10:50 am and will depart for Barbados  at 1:20 in the afternoon. Currently the daily flights arrive at Ogle at 3pm and departs half hour later.

And with the airline already planning for the busy Christmas travel season, LIAT is adding a number of other flights and connections to its schedule across the Caribbean.  A number of changes are also being made to its schedule to coincide with international flights and those passengers who would use LIAT connections. Liat

In a statement on Tuesday, the airline said that as part of a major initiative to restructure its commercial activities to meet customer needs and to improve performance of the airline, Liat will change its schedule periods from the three seasonal schedules currently produced to a standard IATA schedule, which covers two seasons.

“The new winter schedule will come into effect on 26 October 2014 and run until 28 March 2015.  By maintaining the schedule for a longer period, it allows our customers to plan further ahead, as the routes and times of services are known”, the company said.

The release added that while focusing on the regional market, attention has also been given to customers wishing to connect with international services to the US, UK and Europe, and so the schedule has been designed to allow customers to connect with other carriers, such as British Airways, Virgin and Air France.  According to the carrier, “establishing this base allows Liat to start building alliances with other carriers and to strengthen its presence in those markets”.
