The two men who confessed to killing 89-year-old Constance Fraser and 77-year-old Phylis CaesarĀ back in 2017 were today sentenced to life in prison on their manslaughter conviction.

The convicts Imran Khan and Steven Andrews had opted to plead guilty to the lesser count of manslaughter instead of facing a jury trial for murder. They were hoping to get a light sentence, but today Justice Sandel Kissoon sentenced both men to life in prison.

They will only become eligible for parole after serving 35 years in jail.

The two elderly women were found strangled to death in their South Road home on the 3rd October 2017. Their lifeless bodies were discovered by church members who visited the home after calls to the phone went unanswered.

Before sentencing today, family members of the victims offered statements to the Court expressing the grief they still feel because of the death of the two women who were Sunday school teachers.

One family member labeled the convicted men cowardly murderers and said they should never be set free again.

The two men along with a third man had broken into the house to rob the women and it was during the course of the robbery that they attacked and strangled the women to death.

The third man who has been charged in connection with the double murder remains on remand as his case is still to come up.
