Linden man found dead in Amelia’s Ward home; suicide suspected

Police in the mining town of Linden are investigating the death of 36-year-old Nigel Millington whose partly decomposed body was found on Monday morning in his Amelia’s Ward home.

The case is being treated as an apparent suicide but investigators are not ruling out anything else.

He was reportedly found with a sheet wrapped around his neck and hanging from a door in the house.

According to his friends, he was last seen alive on Friday. One friend explained that after he did not turn up to work on Saturday, a check was made at his home on Saturday night. The house was locked up but nothing out of the ordinary was suspected.

Early this morning, someone in the area called in the police after a strong stench was emanating from the house. The police were forced to break into the house and it was then that they made the discovery. He may have been dead since Friday night.

Millington is being remembered as a caring and loving father and friend. Although he kept most of his life very private, friends recall that he had just gone through a rocky marriage which ended recently.

The end of his marriage may have sent him into a depressed mood. He recently posted a photograph of his ex-wife on his Facebook page with what now appears to have been a goodbye message.

He wrote “the woman that help me to be a real man & father by taking my last name & loving me but I f*%ked it up she is a good woman & mother ,may u have a happy & bless life thanks for everything (love u & good-bye)”

He also posted photographs with his children with short messages about them.
