Police investigators have been dispatched to the Mowasi Landing area at Potaro where a 31-year-old Lindener was brutally stabbed and shot to death during an argument.

The dead man was a gold miner. He has been identified as  Quacy Thompson. The incident on Tuesday evening just after 8pm at the interior mining location.

According to a police report, investigations so far have revealed that Quacy Thompson was involved in an argument with two other  men, during which he was stabbed and shot to his body.

The two men escaped without a trace but investigators have received a number of tips and are expected to pursue the suspected assailants. The investigation is ongoing.

There has been a sharp rise in the number of murders and robberies at many of the gold mining camps in Guyana’s interior district. Most of the cases remain unsolved.
