The President said Mr. Persaud provided more than 60 unbroken years of exemplary public service as an Accountant, Foreign Service Officer and as Chief of Protocol and Advisor on Protocol Affairs.

Longtime Protocol Adviser Vic Persaud has died

Longtime Protocol Adviser to the President Vic Persaud passed away after a period of illness.

Persaud served every Executive President of Guyana dating back to late President Forbes Burnham and up to recently President Irfaan Ali.

In a statement, President Irfaan Ali remembered Persaud as an institution within Guyana’s public service.

The President said Mr. Persaud provided more than 60 unbroken years of exemplary public service as an Accountant, Foreign Service Officer and as Chief of Protocol and Advisor on Protocol Affairs.

President Ali described the late Protocol Chief as a model public servant, embodying the finest attributes of professional public service.

“His wit, charm, grace, sophistication, courtesy, excellence and efficiency were the hallmarks of his exemplary service”, the President noted, while adding that Guyana has lost an outstanding public servant, and the Office of the President has lost one of its most beloved and respected stalwarts.

Vic Persaud has left to mourn his wife and children.
