Mackenzie High receives gift of laptops from North American Alumni Chapter

Linden’s premier secondary institution, the Mackenzie High School recently received a gift of ten laptops and other learning material from its North American Alumni Association.

The laptops are expected to assist teachers and students as they continue to navigate home schooling during the pandemic.

The laptops and supplies were procured through donations from old students of the school and the handover is just the first of many planned activities of the MHS North American Alumni Chapter in the coming months.

At a simple handover ceremony, Executive member of the Alumni group, Roxanne Niles-Alleyne said with education delivery transitioning more to the digital platform, members of the alumni group wanted to assist their alma mater in executing the online delivery of the school’s curriculum. She reminded that the Mackenzie High School has always done well academically and otherwise over the years and there is no time for that good work to slow down.

The President of the Association Andrew James has indicated that the North American Chapter of the Alumni Association will continue to see how best it could lend support to the school’s development.

The administration of the school welcomed the initiative and thanked the MHS Alumni Association North American Chapter for its gift.

A few months ago, another old students body, The Real MHS 90’s Crew, donated several tablets to the school.

Teachers at Mackenzie High have been offering virtual classes for its junior students while those senior students preparing for CXC exams have been offered virtual and in-class sessions.
