44-year-old, Athlone Pitt, who was charged three years ago for the gruesome killing of his wife Candacy Pitt has opted to plead guilty to the lesser count of manslaughter.

He was charged for murder.

The wife, Candacy Pitt aka Cindy, was at her security job at the Bygeval Secondary School when she was attacked by the husband and brutally chopped to death.

The incident occurred on the 1st of June 2016.

During the preliminary inquiry in the Magistrates’ Court, it was revealed that the two had been married for thirteen years and the woman had often complained about the abuse that would be meted out to her by the husband.

Family members said he became more abusive towards the woman as she was able to hold down a job to provide for the family as he lost his job.

The abuse became jealously and led to rage, which ended in the chopping death of the woman.

After entering the guilty plea to manslaughter in Court today, the killer was told that he will have to return to Court on the 23rd October for his sentencing.
