The 33-year-old man, Herman David, of 1538 Section B, Diamond, East Bank Demerara and formerly of 67 John Street, Campbellville, died on the spot.

A Diamond resident died at around 4:55am this morning after the car he was driving smashed into a parked truck along the Soesdyke Roadway, East Bank Demerara, close to the junction.

The 33-year-old man, Herman David, of 1538 Section B, Diamond, East Bank Demerara and formerly of 67 John Street, Campbellville, died on the spot.

Investigators suspect that the man might have been speeding or may have fallen asleep at the wheel when he slammed into the parked truck.

The car broke a part in two pieces upon impact.

The driver was returning home from the Cheddi Jagan airport after taking his wife there to catch a flight.

There are reports that the distraught woman cancelled her trip after learning of her husband’s tragic death.

An investigation is underway.
