The Returning Officer was should have been released from Police custody on Saturday when the 72 hours of him being in custody expired, but the Police Force kept him in custody and announced that he had been charged and will appear in Court on Monday.

His Attorney Darren Wade, criticized the move since hours before, a representative from the DPP Chambers had indicated to the Court that there was not sufficient evidence at the time to file charges.

Meanwhile, the Information Technology Officer who was arrested outside GECOM on Thursday is now being accused of fraud.

His Attorney, Eusi Anderson is convinced that there is no evidence tying his client to any fraud related to the elections.

In a statement, the Attorney said his client has at all times been cooperating with the Police even after investigators refused him his rights to consult with his Attorney.

The Attorney expressed concern that there have been attempts to coerce an admission from the former Immigration Officer who has has been in the employ of GECOM as an IT Officer for the past 7 years.

Three other GECOM staffers were arrested, one of them remains under Police guard at the Georgetown Hospital after being rushed there with high blood pressure.

The Police Force’s investigations into allegations of fraud in the 2020 elections were triggered by private charges filed by a candidate of the People’s Progressive Party, recently appointed Minister Charles Ramson Jr.
