A young man was crushed to death by a heavy duty mining truck on Monday afternoon at Kurubuka mines near Kwakwani in Region 10.
He has been identified as Wesley Patwa and is believed to be in his early 20’s. A relative of the young man confirmed to News Source that he worked in the bauxite mines and was in one of the mining areas when the tragedy struck.
The relative said information is sketchy and so far they have only been told that he was run over by the heavy duty truck. Some other relatives have travelled to the area to seek more information.
Family members have been left in shock by the accident and the young man’s mother, according to the relative, is too distraught to even speak to other family members.
A team from the Kwakwani Police Station was dispatched to the mining area late this afternoon and an investigation has been launched.
