In remarks after the Oath of Office was administered to the new Members of Cabinet, President Irfaan Ali said they will be held accountable not just by him but also by all the people of Guyana.

Nineteen Ministers of Government took their oath of office before President Irfaan Ali this afternoon at the Arthur Chung Convention Centre, promising to serve without fear or favour.

Longtime executive of the People’s Progressive Party, Zulficar Mustapha will be heading the Agriculture portfolio as the new Minister of Agriculture.

Pauline Sukhai will return to head the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs while Charles Ramson Jr. will serve as the Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture.

Attorney Priya Manickchand will return to lead the Ministry of Education while newcomer, Hugh Todd will serve as the country’s new Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Dr. Frank Anthony will be heading the Ministry of Health and Robeson Benn who has been serving as an Election Commissioner will now be the Minister of Home Affairs.

The new Minister of Housing and Water is Collin Croal and he will be assisted by Susan Rodrigues who will serve as the Minister within the Ministry of Housing and Water.

Dr. Vindya Persaud has been sworn in as the new Minister of Human Services and Social Security while Joseph Hamilton has taken over the portfolio of Minister of Labour.

The new Minister of Local Government is Nigel Dharamlall and he will be supported by NTN Channel 69 owner Anand Persaud who will now serve as the Minister within the Ministry of Local Government.

Vickram Bharrat is the new Minister of Natural Resources, while Sonia Parag will serve as Minister of Public Service. Bishop Juan Edghill will head the Public Works Ministry and Deodat Indar will be the Minister within the Ministry of Public Works.

Former Magistrate Oneige Waldron is the new Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce and Kwame McCoy will serve as Minister within the Office of the Prime Minister.

In remarks after the Oath of Office was administered to the new Members of Cabinet, President Irfaan Ali said they will be held accountable not just by him but also by all the people of Guyana.

The President said he has put together a dynamic team that he believes will bring the right amount of knowledge needed to get the country going again.

A Minister of Finance is still to be annouced. The President said a number of other key appointments will be made in the coming days.
