Mocha farmer killed by speeding mini bus

A Mocha Arcadia father of two died on Wednesday morning after being hit down by a mini bus while on his way home from work.

Dead is 33-year-old Sheldon Lennox Waithe of Second Street, Mocha.

He worked as a farmer on a plot of land in the area. Waithe, who was riding a bicycle with three others, was slammed from behind by a route 42 minibus.

His friends claimed that the bus was speeding at the time.

“The bus was speeding but I was in front and all I hear was bam and I see Sheldon skating into the trench,” one of the dead man’s friend related.

He said when Waite was pulled from the trench  in a motionless state, he was also bleeding profusely.

“When we pull him out, he was bleeding through his ears,” the eyewitness said.

The man was pronounced dead by doctors moments later. The driver has been taken into police custody and the bus detained. An investigation has been launched.
