Mon Repos man on the run after stabbing cousin to death

The murder figure on the first day of the new year climbed to two this afternoon after a Mon Repos carpenter was stabbed to death in his yard by his young cousin.

Dead is Ganesh Ramlakan of First Street, Mon Repos. He is believed to be in his mid 30’s. The incident took place just before 3 o’ clock this afternoon.

According to a relative, Ganesh Ramlakan was in his yard when his young cousin pulled up in front of the house in a car, ran into the house and came out back with two knives and started to stab him about his body repeatedly.

Other family members attempted to intervene but were forced to back off as the young man threatened to stab them also. At least two relatives received deep cuts to their hands.

After Ganesh collapsed, the cousin ran away from the area and it is believed that he may be hiding out in another village along the East Coast. He was spotted running into a bushy area in the same Mon Repos community.

A sister of the dead man said she knows of no problem than existed between the two cousins and the entire family was at home and were left shocked when they saw the cousin stabbing Ganesh.

The cousin’s name has been given as “Vicky” aka Leader.

A police search party was in the area looking for him up to this afternoon.  Just after midnight today, a Corentyne man became the first murder victim when he was stabbed to death during a fight in a Crabwood Creek bar.
