More stolen cars and car parts recovered during another raid at Kuru Kururu

Six more persons were arrested this morning as part of a carjacking probe as Police investigators carried out a pre-dawn raid at Kuru Kururu on the Linden Soesdyke Highway.

The operation got started just after 3 this morning and investigators found two motorcars along with a canter truck loaded with a shell of a silver Toyota Spacio car and a quantity of vehicle parts.

The truck is registered to a Barr Street, Kitty resident and all of the items are believed to have been stolen or unlawfully obtained. They were seized and lodged.

According to the Police statement, the six persons who were arrested this morning are all employed by an ex-policeman, who is in custody along with others assisting with the investigations.

The ex-police and several others were arrested over the weekend when the first raid unearthed several stolen vehicles and vehicle parts in the same Kuru Kururu area and at a location along the East Coast of Demerara.

The Police Force is now working along with the GRA to obtain the registration information for the recovered vehicles so that the owners could be informed.

For several months, there was a sudden increase in carjackings and car theft. The ring was shattered recently as the lawmen widened their probe.
