Member of Parliament for the People’s Progressive Party, Nigel Dharamlall is denying any involvement in any criminal act.

Police investigators are currently seeking legal advice following a complaint filed against Dharamlall that he threatened to shoot a foreign worker attached to the IDB Office in Guyana after the man was seen speaking to his ex-wife.

In a late night statement issued by his Attorney, Glen Hanoman, on Monday, the Attorney stated “We, first and foremost, wish for the matter to be thoroughly and professionally investigated. Secondly, and towards this end,  I have advised my client not to comment on the issue or engage the media so as not to interfere with, or prejudice this process. My client unequivocally denies any involvement in any criminal act.”

Divisional Police Commander and Assistant Commissioner, Marlon Chapman, confirmed to News Source on Monday afternoon that a complaint was indeed made, an investigation was conducted and legal advice is now being sought on the issue.

He would offer no other detail.

The Member of Parliament provided a statement to the investigators as part of the probe. The alleged incident reportedly occurred just over a week ago at an East Coast Demerara location.
