Murdered soldier was not part of deadly attack on gold miner -says Crime Chief

The Guyana Police Force has ruled out any involvement of a soldier who was found dead on the roadway in Tucville in the shooting death of a gold miner yesterday morning.

The soldier’s body with two bullet wounds was found moments after the shooting death of miner Deon Stoll.

It was initially suspected that he might have been one of the robbers who attacked the miner and was injured during the getaway.

However, today senior investigators said based on their probe, the 18-year-old GDF rank, Olijah Chesney has been ruled out as being involved in that incident.

Crime Chief Michael Kingston has been quoted as saying that from all appearances, the soldier was involved in another incident involving a disagreement over a motorcycle and he was shot by another man.

The matter is under probe.
