New charges filed against Tower Hotel robbery pair

Two Georgetown men, who are currently facing a number of charges in the courts, found themselves facing additional charges on Wednesday.

23-year-old Curtis Vasconcellos and 21-year-old Jason Howard, were slapped with an unlawful wounding charge and a charge of unlawfully and maliciously discharging a loaded firearm.

The new charges relate to the robbery of a Tower Hotel accountant and the injuries sustained by a security guard.

The accountant was on his way back to the hotel when he found himself being held at gunpoint and robbed of close to $3million in cash and other valuables.

An attempted murder charge was initially filed in the matter against the two, but that charge, which was based on a security guard being grazed with a bullet, has since dropped, with all other charges remaining.

One of the men is already facing a double murder charge in the court for the gruesome death of  the Good Hope husband and wife, who were burnt to death in their home during a robbery in April, 2016.
