New York bound Fly Jamaica passengers from Guyana no longer have to disembark during Jamaica stop

Fly Jamaica Airways has announced that passengers heading to New York from Guyana will no longer have to deplane during the carrier’s stop in Jamaica.

According to the airline, as a result of approvals from the Jamaican Aviation Authority and the Transportation Security Administration of the United States, passengers from Guyana will be able to remain on the aircraft when it stops over in Jamaica on its way to New York.

Before the approvals were given, Guyanese passengers would have to leave the aircraft and go through Jamaican Immigration and Customs before boarding the plane again to continue with their journey.

That system resulted in passengers having to spend as much as three hours at Jamaica’s Norman Manley Airport.

The airline intends to offer a more efficient service now that the approvals have been granted.

Fly Jamaica which is co-owned by Guyanese pilot, Captain Ronald Reece, operates a number of flights from Guyana to Jamaica, New York and Toronto.
