North West man stabbed to death with own arrow after shooting another man

In a murder case that appears out of an old movie, Police investigators are probing the death of 64-year-old North West District resident, John Joseph, who died on Saturday morning after being stabbed with an arrow that he had used to shoot another villager.

According to a Police report, the elderly man intervened in an argument between another villager and his son, by whipping out his arrow and bow and shooting the man to the chest.

“The man pulled out the arrow and stabbed John Joseph to his body with it. John Joseph was taken to the Baramita Health Centre where he was pronounced dead on arrival”, the police report said.

The suspect was treated and sent away and is currently in police custody assisting with the investigations. He is claiming self defense in the case.

Many interior villagers still use arrow and bow but mainly for hunting.
