NYPD/US Marshalls arrest alleged mastermind of Berbice carpenter murder.

The Guyanese man who is wanted for the murder of Berbice carpenter, Faiyaz Narinedatt, has been arrested in Queens, New York and could now face an extradition hearing.

The fugitive, Marcus Bisram was arrested on Tuesday afternoon by members of the NYPD/U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force.

The New York Daily News reports that the man was “living here in plain view”.

Guyana issued an international arrest warrant for him in early this year after he was fingered as the mastermind of the murder.

The carpenter had been beaten to death by a group of men, after he allegedly refused Bisram’s sexual advances.

The men, who were arrested and charged, named Bisram as the mastermind and told investigators that he hired them to carry out the murder and to make it appear as a hit and run accident.

After Narinedatt was beaten to death, his body was placed on the roadway and a car was used to drive over the body several times.

The incident took place in #70 Village in Berbice.  Just after the murder, Bisram hurried out of Guyana and had not been seen since.  Although he maintained a social media presence for a while, he went under the radar for several weeks before reemerging at various events in the United States, where he ran a charity.

The NY Daily News reports that Bisram is expected to be presented in Brooklyn Federal court for arraignment on Wednesday.

Guyana, which re-issued a fugitive warrant for Bisram in March, will have to petition for his extradiction, authorities said.
