An off-duty policeman became the country’s latest road accident victim early this morning as he rode his motorcycle along Brickdam.
Dead is Carl Roach, who was in his late 20’s.
According to reports, the accident occurred around 12:30 this morning in the vicinity of Brickdam and Lime st.
Eyewitnesses said Roach was riding his motorcycle east along Brickdam when a Nissan motor car that was being driven in the opposite direction attempted to turn into Lime Street from Brickdam, but slammed into the motorcyclist instead.
The young policeman was pitched onto the roadway.
He sustained a number of injuries to his head and body and appeared and died on the spot.
The accident is under probe this morning.
