The Elections Returning Officer for Region Four Clairmont Mingo was back in Court today for the continuation of the misconduct in public office charges against him.

The matter has been put down for the 15th December, but the Prosecutor from the DPP’s Chambers told the Court today that over 100 witnesses are already lined up to testify against Mingo.

The Prosecutor told the Court that the file in the matter is still incomplete and the Prosecution was only in a position to make a partial disclosure in the matter.

The presiding Magistrate told the Prosecutor that full disclosures with all the evidence and witnesses in the matter will have to be made on the 15th December when the matter is called again.

The Returning Officer was charged back in August after private criminal charges were filed against him alleging electoral fraud. He was granted bail in the sum of $600,000 after being in Police custody for several days.

The Director of Public Prosecutions has since taken over the matter and the Police Force is still conducting its probe of the allegations of electoral fraud.

Mingo was the Returning Officer for Region 4 at the March elections and it was his declarations of the Region Four results that led to several Court cases and a recount of all the votes cast.

The votes from the recount did not match the earlier declarations that were made by Mingo. He was not part of the vote recount.
