PCA recommends three Cops be charged over shooting death of Quindon Bacchus

More than three weeks after Golden Grove youth, Quindon Bacchus was shot dead by the Police during an alleged undercover operation, the Police Complaints Authority has written to the Director of Public Prosecutions, recommending that three Police Officers be charged in connection with the death.

Quindon Bacchus was shot six times by the Police, with five of those shots to his back. Eyewitnesses had reported that the youth was running away from the Police when he was gunned down.

In a statement yesterday, the Chairman of the Police Complaints Authority indicated that the Authority had completed its investigation of the incident, and based on its findings, three Police Officers should face the Courts.

However, the Police Complaints Authority said the type of charges to be filed in the matter and against which specific officer will be the work of the DPP.

The DPP is expected to advise the Police on charges in the case early this week.

The shooting death of the young father of one has led to protests over the past three weeks with the protests becoming chaotic last week when some vendors at the Mon Repos market were attacked and had their shops looted by a group of persons who were part of a protest march. The family of the dead youth has condemned that action.
